Spirit of the Wings Butterfly Release

Please join us on this special day to honor the memory of your loved ones as we release Monarch butterflies to their first flight into the sunshine. This memorable Monarch Butterfly release has been a cherished local tradition for 26 years. The solemn yet joyful ceremony is a fitting tribute to the memory of your loved ones and sharing the experience with others who have experienced similar loss makes it even more powerful.

The “Spirit of the Wings” Monarch Butterfly release is a fund-raising event for Mille Lacs Health System Home Care & Hospice. We purchase the butterflies and arrange the event. We welcome donations of any amount. There are several ways to sponsor a butterfly: you may call the number below to confirm your pledge or donate here, submit names of loved ones and pay online. Your loved one’s name will be read at the ceremony whether you are present or not.

You are not required to sponsor a butterfly to attend the event.  Please come and enjoy the experience with family and friends. The location change is exciting for us, we are looking forward to having it on campus from here on out, our residents in Long Term Care and Senior Care can watch and enjoy the beautiful sight as we release the butterflies.

We will also be having root beer floats and a tour of the MLHS facility after if you wish to stay a while.
